Felt Folk Art
This is one of my favorite projects and I think is a beautiful piece of folk art to hang on the wall. This can be done with your kids, grandkids, parents, or friends. One of the wonderful aspects in making this art piece, is it can be done siting all together, in multi sessions, or the squares can be mailed to be sewn and then mailed back for assemble. This particular piece was sewed by 3 generations in my family including me. It was a project started many, many, years ago and I'm excited because it will soon be 4 generations to add to it's beauty. Recently, one of the squares has began to come off. A perfect opportunity to have my child whip stich a new one on, with colors they choose. I wonder how long this will be passed on through the family, and if it will continue on to the 5th generation? For now, I love this piece of heritage hanging in my home. If you have felt lying around, or need some large pieces cut, then Joanne fabrics has a wide selection by the yard of fabric bolts. I think this would be a wonderful project to do with your children (a great beginner hand sewing project) and helps fill some of the summer hours. Go a head and grab your felt scraps and craft that mess into something beautiful.
